Lately the argument that ancient germanic peoples sacrificed homosexuals in bogs, was brought again as “historical proof” to justify the mistreatment of homosexuals by far-right movements. The main source is Tacitus’ “Germania” where, supposadly, he mentions that homosexuals were sacrificed in bogs, but were they really? Is Tacitus’ “Germania” a reliable source of information concerning the Old Germanic population and their customs? Are there any evidences that pre-modern, non-Abrahamic cultures punished and sentenced to death same gender sexual intercourse? Let’s explore all of this, and more, in this video, including the archaeological reality of bog bodies.
